Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has donated a new lift to the County's Coast General Hospital.
He said installation works have commenced in the three-storey building facility, which offers services to a wider population of Coast residents.
"The new lift being installed courtesy of Hassan Joho Foundation uses microprocessor technology that will not only improve power efficiency compared to the previous hydraulic system but also enhance the overall effectiveness of operations of the hospital,'' Joho said, Tuesday.
The facility has been operating without a lift since 1990.
Patients were being wheeled up and down the ramps at the cost of wear, tear, damaging the hospital equipment.
The installation of the Schneider Lifts and Components high capacity hospital bed lift at the hospital aims to ensure health operations at the facility are enhanced.
