Junet Mohammed has sensationally claimed that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is a Sultan to Muslims just like President Uhuru Kenyatta is a ‘Muthamaki’ when in Central region.
Armed GSU officers blocked Mr. Joho from attending a function presided over by the president at Mtongwe on Monday with Mr. Kenyatta claiming that the governor had no business in accompanying him to functions.
And the outspoken Suna East MP says Kenyatta stoop too low by demeaning the Governor’s influence in the Coast.
“I saw him complaining this morning that Joho is a Sultan but what he should know us Muslims call somebody who is a serious leader a Sultan just like they call Uhuru Muthamaki when in Nyeri,” said Mohammed.
He added:”When you are in Coast you must call him a Sultan and that is not negotiable. He should accept that and move on because it is a reality.”
Governor Joho has been embroiled in a tough battle with Jubilee leadership and had previously lost his security details after fierce exchanges with the president.
The ODM deputy party leader is a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga and has often organized big party functions.
