Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has assured Kenyans the Jubilee administration’s promise for free secondary education will remain a pipe dream.
Joho said just like Jubilee’s promise for laptops to all Class One pupils during campaigns for the 2013 general election, the promise for free secondary education will remain elusive. He was speaking in Machakos during a tour by National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi in the county on Monday.“They say a promise cannot live upon a dishonest one,” Joho said.“A Jubilee promise for free secondary education is as good as ‘One Laptop per Child’. A vote for NASA is a vote for truth. A vote for NASA is a vote for honesty and a vote for NASA is a vote for equity. Vote for Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka. Things will change.”“Mombasa shares a kindred spirit with Machakos. We share a large population of the same heritage. I wish to urge Machakos citizens to turn up in large numbers on August 8 in order to participate in a new future, a brighter future, a NASA future,” he added.Raila and Kalonzo accused the government of failing to cushion Kenyans against the high cost of living which they said had affected the productivity of Kenyans because of insufficient and expensive food.“The journey for Kenya’s third liberation has begun,” said Raila.“They bit more than they could chew. All the promises they (Jubilee) made in 2013 have not been fulfilled. They don’t deserve a second term.”Kalonzo on his part said: “They have been deceiving Kenyans that Ukambani is a Jubilee zone. That’s a dream. They will fail including (Governor) Alfred Mutua.”
