Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has called for discourse towards secession of the Coast region from Kenya.Speaking at a Press Conference in Mombasa on Friday, Governor Joho reiterated that they will use constitutional means, both local and international, to find avenues of making their dream of secession a reality."Tunataka haki yetu ya kujitenga kama eneo (We want our right to secede as a region)," Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi noted. The leaders noted that this was a long journey that would involve the elders, youth, clergy and the business community with a view of making them buy the idea of secession.Kingi noted that they are aware of the uphill task ahead of them, adding that they are determined to overcome all challenges.Asked whether their move involved the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC), Joho noted that they will use both local and international constitutional assets at their disposal. He noted that a team of four professionals led by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya and Mohammed Faki had already embarked on the mission of secession. He said that they had no option other than secession because the Jubilee administration had failed to give them an ear.
