Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi will spearhead National Super Alliance (NASA) campaigns at the Coast as the opposition eyes 90 per cent of the region’s one million votes.Joho, who is also the ODM deputy party leader, is expected to lead the NASA brigade in campaigning for Raila Odinga in the six counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta, Kwale and Lamu.Raila will be banking on the influence of Joho and Kingi at the Coast to garner more votes than President Uhuru Kenyatta come August. The duo will pitch tents in different parts of the region with the aim of protecting the opposition’s support base from Jubilee influence. The appointment of Joho and Kingi comes at a time when Jubilee has managed to woo different leaders to cross over to their side ahead of the August 8 general election.ODM rebels in the region include Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, his Tana River counterpart Hussein Dado, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro, Taita Taveta Senator Dan Mwazo and county Women MP Joyce Lay.The campaigns, which will kick off in early June, will comprise of a huge caravan.
