Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala presided over launching of a cruise ship terminal at the Mombasa port on Friday.
This is part of the county government’s plan to expand the port in a bid to increase the revenue collected from the East Africa’s largest sea port.
Speaking during the event, the ODM Deputy Party leader said the terminal will boost tourism sector in the region.
“This terminal will consist of all necessary required amenities to service cruise ships and tourists docking at the sea port. It is expected to boost tourism sector,” he said.
“It will also complement growth of business in Mombasa County and coastal region at large in coming days,” he added.
The development terminal was fully funded by Trade Mark East Africa and Kenya Ports Authority.
