Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has renewed his rivalry with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on Monday during an ODM rally in Mtongwe, Likoni Constituency, the outspoken Governor accused Uhuru's administration of failing the Coast region.Joho claimed that the President is using the Mtongwe ferry to gain political mileage and woo voters into supporting his re-election bid.He challenged the government to instead construct a bridge across the channel."Every election year, from Moi's tenure, a new ferry is launched. I hear that Uhuru is coming to launch a new ferry. But that will not change anything here. Kenyans are nowadays enlightened. They know their rights. How can a whole President come to Mombasa to launch a ferry? We need a bridge to be constructed,” he said.Joho urged residents in the county to reject Jubilee governor candidate Suleiman Shahbal, arguing that he is being used by President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto for political reasons. The county boss further urged residents to give him a second term in office, adding that he is the best candidate to defend their rights.
