The Mombasa High Court has asked former Mombasa senator Omar Hassan Omar to pay whooping Sh8 million.
This is after Justice Lydia Achode upheld the victory of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho in an election filed by Joho.
After lengthy deliberation on the evidence presented, Justice Lydia Achode found that there was no evidence to support the allegations made by the Petitioner and that the allegations were unfounded and without basis.
"I wish to thank the Almighty for revealing the truth. For the truth shall always defeat falsehood. I also wish to thank my outstanding and able legal team led by my friends Mr. Mohammed Balala and Mr. Paul Buti for an amazing and formidable defense," noted Joho.
He added that the victory was not his alone but for the people who endured queues lines on the 8th August 2017 to give voice to their dreams and aspirations.
The court directed Omar pays Sh8 million to pay the IEBC and Joho.
