Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is in prime position to retain his seat during the August poll according to the latest opinion poll by TIFA.According to the poll results released on Tuesday, Joho is enjoying an unassailable lead which sees him top with 68 per cent with his nearest challenger Suleiman Shahbal coming a distant second with 15 per cent. The Wiper pair of Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who are embroiled in sibling rivalry could not reach the double-digit mark with Omar coming top with just 7 per cent. With 7 per cent of those interviewed remaining undecided, Awiti came last with only 3 per cent feeling he is the right man to lead the Port city.In 2013, Joho defeated Suleiman Shahbal who vied for the seat on a Wiper ticket.Joho has positioned himself as the undisputed Coast kingpin and has been at loggerheads with the Jubilee regime on a number of issues, as he remains to be Raila Odinga's point man in the region.
