Officials of the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission paid a courtesy call to Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho, even as the elections date nears, Wednesday.

They discussed various issues ranging from the political climate within the County, the need for a level playing field leading to the forthcoming general election, and the constitutional role of the National government in providing security.

They also discussed on the importance of prevalence of peace during elections, as the people exercise their democratic rights and EU Election Observation Mission's role in observing to promote elections that were of a very high standard in conformity with international standards and best practices.
