Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said that the county is an Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM) stronghold.
Speaking in Frere Town on Sunday after jetting back from the US, Joho told President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to forget the Coast vote, adding that ODM will win all seats in the county. “As you all know, Mombasa is an ODM zone. Our competitor is Jubilee and it is ODM candidates who will carry the day in August. The others have no chance whatsoever,” said Joho, as quoted by the Nation. The outspoken governor also assured ODM aspirants of free and fair nominations as they seek different elective posts in the forthcoming general poll. Joho’s remarks come after Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar said that Wiper Party will not hold joint National Super Alliance (NASA) joint nominations. Omar argued that Wiper under the leadership of Kalonzo Musyoka has the capacity to front candidates for all the different elective posts. Both Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti are confident they will trounce Joho in the August 8 election. The two have accused Joho of failing the county's residents.
