Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has mourned Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Sarah Nyamvula following her demise, while undergoing treatment for lymphoid cancer in India.

He said he not only lost a friend, but also a visionary leader whose voice would be heard at the County Assembly.

"Mombasa is deeply saddened by the death of our beloved nominated MCA Mama Sarah Nyamvula. I have not only lost a personal friend but Mombasa has also lost a dedicated and visionary leader with impeccable character whose voice of reason and wisdom always echoed in the County Assembly buildings,'' Joho said, Tuesday.

According to the deceased's elder brother James Kilifi, she was flown to India, December 29, 2016, after her doctor asked her to seek specialised treatment.

"I join her family members, friends and the Mombasa County fraternity in mourning our departed heroine. May the Almighty rest her soul in eternal peace,'' added Joho in his condolence message.

Nyamvula who will be remembered for championing children's rights under the Pwani Child Rights Network, passed away, January 23, 2017.
