Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is mourning the death of Sarova Hotels Managing Director Jaideep Vohra who died on Friday following a  road accident.

Vohra succumbed to injuries after his car rolled near Amboseli lodge as he was heading to watch the classic East African Safari rally from Mombasa to the Tanzanian border.

Joho has eulogised Vohra as a great Motorsport enthusiast and an esteemed hotelier.

"It is with profound shock and sadness that we receive the news of the demise of Mr Jaideep Singh Vohra in a tragic road accident while following the proceedings of the East African Safari Classic Rally. The late Mr Vohra was a great Motorsport enthusiast and an esteemed hotelier," said Joho, in a Facebook post on Friday.

The county boss also revealed that he had met with Mr Vohra on Wednesday and had a productive discussion on tourism development in Mombasa.

"Rest in peace my dear friend it was just two days ago when we met and had a very productive discussion on tourism development in Mombasa. On behalf of my family and Mombasa County, I wish to extend our hearty condolences to the family and friends of the late Jaideep Vohra," added Joho.
