Photo/ nation.co.keMombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said he does need to explain to his opponents and supporters what he has done for the region since he ascended to power. Speaking on Tuesday after the release of an opinion poll that indicated he is on track to retain Mombasa governorship, Joho said he has initiated several projects in the county, adding that he is still working on others ahead of the August 8 elections. “We don’t have time to discuss my achievements right now. They are many...there are plans we want to implement going forward. We have rolled out many programmes over the last four years. They would require a sit-down to enumerate,” he said, as quoted by The Star. Senator Hassan Omar, Jubilee Mombasa governor aspirant Suleiman Shabhal and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti rubbished the polls, terming them as cooked. Omar questioned why Joho was quick to accept polls that favour him but disputes those that indicate President Uhuru Kenyatta is ahead of all NASA Principals. “That is hypocrisy of the highest order. I know for a fact that my brother Joho will win any opinion poll,” said Omar.“You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see the narrative they are driving; that they are the lord kings of Mombasa and the Coast region,” he added. The poll ranked Joho at 68 per cent while shabhal and Omar garnered 15 and 7 per cent respectively.
