Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has nominated former Nyali MP Hezron Awiti’s running mate to his cabinet.Awiti vied against Joho in the August 8 general election, where he emerged fourth in the gubernatorial race after garnering slightly over 4,000 votes.Hassan Mwamtoa has been nominated to head the Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, and Cooperatives docket.Mwamtoa is among the second batch of nominees waiting vetting and approval by Members of the County Assembly (MCA).Mwamtoa’s nomination comes after seven other nominees were approved by the MCAs.The seven are Twafiq Balala (Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works), Kevin Munyoki (Youth Gender, Sports, and Cultural Affairs) and Edward Nyale (Lands, Planning and Housing).Others are Hazel Koitaba (Health), Godfrey Nyongesa (Environment, Waste Management, and Energy), Maryann Mbaruk (Finance and Economic Planning) and Fatma Awale (Water, Sanitation, and Natural Resources).They will take their oath of office tomorrow (Thursday).The county boss has also nominated Fawz Ali to head the Trade, Tourism and Investment docket and Seth Odongo as the Devolution and Public Service Administration CeC.
