However, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho says the same mistakes will not be allowed to haunt ODM.

This declaration comes after he was chosen by party leader Raila Odinga to lead a team of eight members in organising for the latter's 2017 campaigns.

There will be other teams but Joho's group is responsible for setting everything right for Raila's most probably last presidential bid.

Speaking to the Star Joho said, "Poor nominations cost us votes in the last election. We will not repeat that. The mistakes that ODM has made before will not be repeated. We have a strong national party with very loyal members and a popular party leader. It is time those numbers are translated into votes.”

The county boss could have found what has been negatively affecting the ODM for years; unfair nominations caused defections and loss of votes countrywide.

Even ODM's strongholds like Western and Nyanza were seriously affected. However, the popular party has resorted to rectifying where they went wrong during last elections.

He continued, "Things will not be the same. We have been tried and tested in Malindi and other areas where we have handed Jubilee huge losses in by-elections. Now we have matured. We know what to do and we will match them in every area."
