Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Senator Hassan Omar put their political differences aside and joined lawyers and human rights activists to protest against the extra-judicial killings in the country.
The protesters from the Law Society of Kenya, lobby groups well as the Taxi Operators Association, were protesting against the mysterious deaths of a Nairobi lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and a taxi driver in Machakos last week.
Addressing the peaceful procession at the Mombasa law courts on Monday, Joho called on the police to address the extra-judicial killings that have been happening even at the Coast.
"Somebody must be held to account, be it the Inspector General Joseph Boinnet, CS Joseph Nkaissery, Samuel Arachi (Deputy Inspector General) or Muhoro Ndegwa (Director CID)," Joho said.
"They will just sacrifice some junior officers at the end of the day as they remain in office," he added.
On the other hand, Senator Omar called on the Kenyans to speak out about the killings.
"None of us should be quiet because today, a bullet, a club and part of a rifle has been heaped onto someone's organ," Omar said.
"Tomorrow, if we are silent, a bullet will be lodged into one of us and others will be silent," he added.
