Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said he has nothing personal against President Uhuru Kenyatta despite them having had a frosty relationship in the past few months.Speaking during an interview on KTN on Wednesday, Joho said he only engages the President as a governor.

“I have nothing personal against Uhuru. We are both leaders elected by the people and I would not want to engage the president personally because leadership goes beyond personal interests,” said Joho.

Joho who has been at the centre of different controversies in the past few weeks, said he is being victimized by the Jubilee administration for defending his people.

According to Joho, his troubles with President Kenyatta started when he questioned the government's decision to lease the Waitiki Land in Likoni to the sqautters, and maintained he has no apologies to make over the same.

Waitiki land has since become a thorny political issue in Mombasa County which has been dogged by land issues for decades.

Regarding the recent happening where he was blocked from attending the President's function during the re-launch of the Mtongwe ferry, Joho said he had every right to attend the event considering he is the county's elected governor.

The Governor who engaged the President in a public spat during the commissioning of the Buxton footbridge early this year, defended his utterance and insisted that the project was not funded by the Jubilee administration as claimed.
