Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has cleared the bill of a girl who was being held at the Coast Provincial General Hospital (CPGH) over a Sh106,000 debt.
The eight-year-old girl, Joyce Jotto, was admitted at the hospital in May after she fell into a fire during an epileptic fit, at their Kanana Home in Kwale County.
The minor was taken to Msambweni Referral Hospital on December 20, 2015 where she was admitted for five months and then transferred to CPGH, where she underwent skin grafting on her thigh.
Her father, Mr Amos Jotto thanked Governor Joho for coming to their rescue by clearing the hospital bill.
Mr Jotto also thanked the hospital for treating his daughter who has now been discharged.
“The bill was too high for my family to pay. We are happy now that Governor Joho paid the bill. We are already at our Kanana home with the girl,” he said, as quoted by The Star.
