Fiery Deputy ODM Party leader Ali Hassan Joho has reprimanded the Deputy President William Ruto, who says that he will not allow the amendment of the constitution.
While addressing the opposition supporters at the roundabout of Kondele in Kisumu on Wednesday, Joho said that the ODM party is at the forefront to call for the referendum aimed at amending the constitution.
He vehemently condemned the deputy president for his 'cowardly act', after Ruto declared his stance of not supporting the move early this week.
"There are some people who say that the constitution will not be amended (referring to Ruto). My friend, you cannot be longing to be the President of the Republic of Kenya if you are afraid of some things. It all relies on people's decision. If the people decide that the constitution will be changed nothing or nobody will change the idea. It is unstoppable," Joho said.
There have been plans by Uhuru and Raila to call for a referendum that will enable the constitution change if it passes through.
The change is aimed at creating the position of the Prime Minister that has not been existing. However, Raila has remained mum over the same.
On Sunday, Ruto addressed Eldoret residents and claimed that some people want to change the constitution to create some nonexisting positions to serve some people's interests. He said no amendments will be made and that he will fight back the idea.
However, in his speech, Joho said that he will steer campaigns to call for the change of the constitution when the time comes. He will rally across the country to tell people that ODM is still intact and also create awareness of the importance of the constitutional change.
