Joho rallied opposition supporters at Mvita in Mombasa on Sunday have been a strong critic of the government, this time launching a scathing attack at the president.

He claimed that Jubilee was trying to unleash propaganda to persuade upcountry voters to flee the Coast before the August poll.

Joho said President Kenyatta’s visits to the Coast region will not benefit his Jubilee Party, as the area is strongly in Nasa.

“Coast people should look at Uhuru Kenyatta as a tourist because his visits will not sway our people,” he added.

He further alleged that Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has been ordered to harass political leaders in Lamu in pursuit of Jubilee's agenda.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, who also campaigned at the Coast over the weekend, accused Kilifi governor Amason Kingi and Joho of inciting disaffection against him and sabotaging his development agenda for the Coast.

Uhuru claimed that Kingi and his Mombasa counterpart were spearheading negative propaganda against him and Jubilee.

The president outlined his development record for the Coast region, saying his administration has spent Sh50 billion to build and rehabilitate roads in Mombasa.
