Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is set to receive another major boost after the Somali community pledged to back his re-election bid. 

Somali Community Chairman Ibrahim Yusuf has confirmed that they will organize a meeting in which they will endorse the governor before the end of Ramadhan.His remarks were reiterated by secretary general and youth leader Mohammed Ibrahim who said plans are underway to endorse the governor, who is defending his seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.“We have organised Iftar which various leaders are expected to attend and endorse Joho and the National Super Alliance,” he said, as quoted by The Star. Ibrahim said Joho has done a lot for the Somali community, adding that the endorsement has been reached after consultation among different stakeholders.He noted that the county boss, who has been at loggerheads with the national government, allocated the community two powerful slots which includes the executive county administrator position occupied by Idris Abdulrahman. The lawmaker is set to square it out with Senator Hassan Omar, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and Jubilee Mombasa point man Suleiman Shahbal.All the three have expressed confidence that they will beat the incumbent.
