Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is adamant that will not apologise to Deputy President William Ruto for calling him a "thief."
On Sunday while addressing a rally at the Likoni Bomani grounds in Mombasa, Joho said it was evident Jubilee has stolen billions of shillings from Kenyans.
"I will not apologise, if you are a thief, you will remain just that. I will not apologise," Joho said.
This remark follows calls by the Rift Valley Council of elders who last week asked Joho to apologise to DP Ruto or they curse him.
Two weeks ago, DP Ruto allegedly referred to the flamboyant governor as an academic dwarf.
This was due to Joho’s opposing a project where the government intends to establish a dry port in Naivasha.
Joho said that the transfer of port services from Mombasa to Naivasha will never succeed.
Mvita MP who was at the meeting said: "Joho might be an academic dwarf, but Ruto is an academic fool. You might think you are learned, but you do not understand issues affecting people. When Joho speaks, he is speaking on behalf of Mombasa residents. The port affects the residents of Mombasa.”
Others present at the rally were Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori, Kwale Senator Juma Boy and Kilifi women rep Aisha Jumwa among others.
