North Mugirango MP Charles Geni has come into the defense of embattled Mombasa governor Hassan Joho claiming that he remains undisputed kingpin in the coast.
Joho, a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, has been on the receiving end by Jubilee politicians led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
And Geni now says the Jubilee team is afraid’ of Joho’s influence in the country, linking it to 2022 presidential elections.
“There is nothing at all to fear because Joho is kingpin from Coast. His charisma and ability to gauge well with locals puts him on top,” said Geni on Tuesday.
The ODM MP added: “He is being fought because even those working with Kenyatta are scared of his growing influence and 2022 bid.”
In yet another sour encounter with Joho, Kenyatta authorized GSU officers to block his entrance to Mtongwe ferry services on Monday, a move that did not go well with opposition leaders.
And on his part, Joho, who also doubles as ODM Deputy Leader, has vowed to lock Jubilee party out of the coast.
