[Photo/nation.co.ke]Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of hatching a plan to sabotage the economy of the Coastal region during his second term in power. Speaking at the Sun N Sand Beach Resort in Kilifi County on Sunday, Joho claimed that the government wants to move the Port of Mombasa to Naivasha. The county boss claimed that the launch of an inland depot in Embakasi area, Nairobi, is part of the Jubilee government’s plot to kill the economy of Mombasa in the next five years. The ultra-modern depot was upgraded at a cost of Sh22 billion before it was launched. The Governor, who is also the ODM Deputy leader maintained that he will continue fighting to protect what belongs to his people as long as he remains in the political arena.“What we saw the other day were clear indications that the port operations are being moved from Mombasa and that is a fact. The one who is hurt must speak out,” said Joho, as quoted by the Nation. The outspoken county boss also said that he is aware of the plot to relocate the operations of the Mombasa port.“We told you before that they had planned to relocate port operations and that is what they are doing now,” he added. The second term governor also faulted the government over the establishment of the special economic zone (SEZ) in Eldoret, claiming that Uhuru is out to ensure that the people of the Coast region continue to suffer under his regime. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
