Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has made changes in his cabinet.
This comes after three county executives resigned to contest for different elective posts in the upcoming general election.
The three are Mohamed Abbas (Sports and Culture), Mohamed Abdi (Health) and Hamisi Mwaguya (Trade).
Abdi will be contesting for the Mandera North parliamentary seat in Northeastern while both Abbas and Mwaguya seek to replace Senator Hassan Omar in the August polls.
In the new cabinet, Tourism CeC Binty Omar will take up Abdi’s position while Transport CeC Taufiq Balala will double up as the executive in charge of Trade, Energy and Industry, The Star reports.
Finance CeC Hazel Koitaba will take over as executive in charge of Sports until the end of Joho’s first term in office.
The move has elicited different reactions, with a section of critics arguing that the new changes are likely to affect service delivery, while others are of the opinion that the appointed executives have the ability to handle two dockets.
