Hassan Joho says he has no ‘intention’ to follow President Uhuru Kenyatta whenever he visits his Mombasa backyard but would do so in public functions to represent people who elected him.

On Monday the ODM deputy party leader was barred from attending launching of Mtongwe ferry services, a function that was presided over by Kenyatta.

But in another charm offensive over Jubilee administration, Joho accused Kenyatta of sideling coastal region in favour of his Central Kenya backyard.

“I want Uhuru to know that I am not interested in following him whenever he goes. I know where he stays but I will never step foot there,” he said during a tour to Taita Taveta on Thursday.

The outspoken county boss added: “I will attend public functions where he comes to cheat people on development. I was about to question where he launches old ferry yet he pours billions to his central region.”

Despite the president issuing thousands of Land tittle deeds in the region, Joho dismissed the exercise demanding that Uhuru surrenders huge tracks of land owned by his family in Taita.

With opposition yet to name its presidential flag bearer, Joho backed the candidature of ODM leader Raila Odinga saying he would ‘solve’ coastal region problems.
