Mombasa gubernatorial hopeful Suleiman Shahbal has accused governor Ali Hassan Joho of being responsible for the floods that have wrecked havoc in the Coastal county.
The floods characterized by heavy downpour has since claimed eight lives, following the collapse of two perimeter walls that fell on their houses.
Speaking in Junda, Kisauni Constituency on Wednesday, Shabhal attributed the floods to poor physical planning and poor drainage system of the county by the Joho administration.
“These floods and deaths are a result of poor physical planning and the poor drainage system. This is the reason why President Uhuru Kenyatta was here some few months ago to launch a storm water drainage system and some people talked bad about it,” he noted.
Shabhal further urged the residents to back his bid, pledging to right Joho's wrongs if elected.
Governor Joho has since affirmed his administration's commitment to mitigate the effects of floods in the county.
