Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has refuted claims being doing rounds in sections of the media that he is allegedly engaging in dubious businesses to get wealth.
Joho said he gets his money from the many business enterprises his family owns.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Sunday, Joho said those spreading the rumours are envious of his rising political popularity.
The governor said he has never engaged in any dubious business.
Joho said his family owns various business enterprises in various sectors such as healthcare, trade and education.
“I have everything I would want and I am comfortable,” he said during the interview.
The county boss said no amount of money can be used to buy to him to ditch the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
The governor said he is keen to transform the lives Mombasa residents.
He said he will seek re-election to continue with the development agenda he has initiated in Mombasa County.
The governor urged residents not to be swayed by petty politicians spreading propaganda.
