Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has set a timeline which he believes the coastal region will have seceded from the rest of the country.
The governor was speaking on Tuesday during the swearing in of the county CEC’s. He said the plan to secession was on course and it will be achieved.
“We must secede in a month, a year or two, five years or even ten years. We must have this discussion because Kenya will not be the first country to agitate for secession. It has happened elsewhere,” said the governor.
He said the secession topic was so serious because it is the only way people from the coastal region will have their problems addressed.
“We will make everybody understand why the journey to secession is irreversible,” he added.
He further stated that the coastal region has been marginalized too much when it comes to matters of elections and national appointments.
