[Photo/Nasa coalition]A group of youth in Mombasa has issued area Governor Ali Hassan Joho with a 14-ultimatum to thoroughly clean up the coastal city.Led by Alex Mwange, the group led peaceful protests in Mombasa streets on Tuesday and threatened to take legal action if Joho fails to clean the city and open sewerage systems within two-weeks.They claimed that poor leadership was the reason behind poor waste management in the county, adding that Joho had failed to show governorship. They as well threatened to initiate impeachment against the two-time county boss."Waste management is a complex issue due to corruption and bad governorship," Mwange said. The ultimatum comes even as Joho and the county's Department of Environment issued a warning on disposal of garbage, saying there are only 3 official dump sites in Mombasa -Kibarani - Changamwe sub countyShonda – Likoni sub countyMwakirunge – Kisauni sub countyAnyone found dumping anywhere else apart from the sites would be arrested and prosecuted. The department also warned that no unlicensed person shall be allowed to transport waste.
