Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi held a parallel rally to Jubilee's at Mtwapa, where the leaders took the opportunity to tear into the DP.

The two hit out at Ruto over failure to tame graft in the national government, saying he has no moral authority to lecture other leaders on matters corruption.

“The deputy president has embarked on a corruption lecture tour at the Coast, yet he is facing a myriad of unsettled cases involving him and the people he is linked to like the NYS scandal,” said Joho.

He cited scandals such as the Eurobond, Standard Gauge Railway, Mafia House, NYS and Chicken Gate, that all revolve around the Jubilee government.

He further warned the DP against disrespecting ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, saying it costs nothing to respect other people.

"I told you sometime back and I want to repeat it today, respect Raila Odinga. You do not match Raila in politics. If you want confrontation come to me,” said Joho.

On his part, DP Ruto hit out at Joho, saying he has no time to engage him on "cheap political contests" and propaganda.

He accused the opposition of causing disharmony in the country by using propaganda to discredit government projects.

Joho and Ruto have both declared interest to vie for the presidential seat in the 2022 general election.
