Just after his planned ODM rally at Kinango, Kwale County, was disrupted after the police lobbed teargas chasing away supporters, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho hit at Jubilee government for using ‘old tactics’ to silence critics. In an interview with a local TV station, the firebrand Governor vowed to ‘continue telling Kenyans the truth’ even as he told off Coast Region Security Coordinator Nelson Marwa who had earlier accused him of being ‘security threat’ in the region.According to Joho, not even the President will prevent him from moving out of Mombasa.“Even if the President tells me not to move out of Mombasa, I will move out. I am a Kenyan just like others,” he said.Joho has been at loggerheads with President Kenyatta and the President’s recent tour of the county seems to have taken the rivalry to a new level.Just two days ago, the Governor claimed that his bank accounts had been frozen by the KRA amid claims of not being tax compliant. However, despite the ongoing troubles, the unshaken Raila’s point man in the region has vowed not to relent in his mission of ‘telling Kenyans the truth’.
