Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has expressed readiness to approach leaders across the political divide over the desired push for self-determination of the coast region. The governor said the idea did not come from anywhere since there were other parts of the country speaking of disassociation from Kenya and it required proper engagements with the citizens.“It is about exclusion, marginalization and we have a voice that has not been heard for a long time. We are a people who want to come together for the good of the people of the coast,” said Joho.He spoke shortly after a meeting with European envoys who have since opposed the secession calls that he is spearheading alongside Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi. While responding to why the leaders had not supported the same idea when it had been flagged by MRC members, the Mr. Joho said they were keen on having proper legal approaches to the matter as opposed to what had been initiated by the group in 2013.
