Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has broken his silence over former Senator Hassan Omar’s move to quit the National Super Alliance (NASA).Through his spokesman Richard Chacha, the Governor said Omar's departure from the opposition alliance was inevitable. In an interview with the Standard on Saturday, Chacha said the move by the former senator to sever ties with the Raila Odinga-led coalition, confirmed suspicion that he was a Jubilee mole."It does not surprise anyone who has watched his conduct in recent years. Let him just defect to Jubilee straight away instead of cutting corners,” said Chacha.Chacha claimed the former Senator was being used by the President Uhuru Kenyatta's government to sabotage Joho's re-election bid in the August 8 general election."He was never interested in being governor. He was only splitting our vote to benefit Jubilee," he told the local daily. In a letter to Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, Omar announced his resignation as the party Secretary General, adding he won't campaign for NASA in the repeat presidential election."As such, it is unlikely that I will play any part in your October 17 presidential quest," read Omar’s resignation letter in part.
