Governor Ali Hassan Joho chaired a consultative meeting between the County Government of Mombasa officials and representative of the Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA).
Their discussions centred on six items; the need for establishment of a centralized tanker parking facility, removal of illegal structures around petroleum storage facilities, enhanced county membership to the Mombasa depots safety and security committee, rehabilitation of roads around oil depot facilities, enhancement of water supply efficiency and appropriate positioning of firefighting engines to address fire risks around the depot facilities.
During the Tuesday's meeting, both sides underscored the importance of the mentioned issues to the petroleum industry and workable timelines in addressing them as agreed.
The meeting came a day after Joho received a delegation from the Vodacom Foundation who paid him a courtesy call on Monday.
Later on, he went to inspect the progress of the ongoing renovations of the maternity wing at the Coast General Hospital.
