Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has finally revealed why he decided to turn down the team of security officers assigned to him by the government.
Speaking on Monday during a voter mobilisation rally, Joho claimed the officers re-assigned to him were not only meant to provide him with security, but also spy on him.
The outspoken governor also claimed that the government was forcing the officers on him in order to plant illegal weapons and contrabands in his residence.
“I know their plans. I know they had sent those officers for two main reasons – one was to plant illegal weapons and contraband items in my house,” said Joho, as quoted by the Star.
“The other job was to have one of the officers stationed in my car so he could listen to my conversations and monitor my movements,” he added.
The Coast political kingpin said it was a good idea to send the security officers away because they did not care about his safety.
“I’m thankful to God that I don’t need police protection because they have bad intentions and bad plans. And I’m thankful that God has enabled us to have the information in advance so we will protect ourselves,” said the governor.
