The delegation was accompanied by a team from the Japanese Embassy led by Mr. Yo Ito who is the first Secretary UN affairs at the Japanese embassy in Kenya.

The Japanese government through JICA has been supporting most UN women projects which are aimed towards addressing the plight of women.

The meeting focussed among others, on the UN women agenda and how they can be incorporated in the fight against violent extremism and radicalization.

Kingi said the Mombasa Countering Violent and Extremism Action Plan had comprehensively articulated the role of women in actualizing the action plan and asked for the support of the UN women in its implementation.

"The Japanese embassy also comes in as a key partner in actualizing our women intervention programs in dealing with gender based violence and CVE as we endeavor to create an enabling environment for the empowerment of the African woman," he said after the meeting on Tuesday.

"We hope that this new front of friendship shall be of great impact to the lives of the women and the larger citizenry of Mombasa," said Kingi.
