The suit refers to an article published by the daily with the title 'Why I fell out with Joho – Mvurya'.

Through his lawyers MMA Advocates, the governor termed the statements made by Mvurya and his deputy during a public rally at Nyumba Mbovu in Kinondo as highly malicious and untruthful.

The court papers highlighted the allegations against Joho as corrupt and engaging in fraudulent activities, greedy, self centred, manipulative, engaging in illegal activities and lacking respect for other leaders among others - all which the county boss denies.

Joho wants Mvurya and the publication to immediately admit liability for the slander and libel, before they deliberate on the issue of damages.

The outspoken governor also wants the Nation to issue an apology and retract the article, after which the three will be required to compensate him with a suitable sum of damages for injury on his reputation.

The three have been given seven days to respond to the suit.
