Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Tuesday took his re-election campaigns to Jomvu constituency, just a day after his bitter opponent Suleiman Shahbal visited the area to pitch for his election.
With over 50,000 votes up for grabs in the constituency, the frequent visits by the politicians signify the growing importance of the sub-county in Mombasa politics. The politics of the Standard Gauge Railway dominated the Governor's talk in the area as he claimed that majority of the locals have not been compensated for their land.Joho who seeking a fresh mandate to spur development in the county said much has been done during his first tenure in office despite the many challenges.Citing the Mombasa Allydina Road bridge and the lighting programme, Joho said that the locals stand a chance to benefit more should he be given a second term in office. The outspoken Governor exuded confidence that he will beat his opponents come August 8, and asked them to ready themselves for a ferocious political.
