The recent appointment of Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho to lead the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s campaign has caused a storm in Ukambani politics.

A section of leaders from Ukambani believes that Raila has chosen Joho as his running mate and questioned the former vice president and Wiper Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s position in coalition for Reforms and Democracy.

One of the leaders who wonders where Kalonzo belongs in Cord is Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.

Sonko has said that the former prime minister is only using Kalonzo Musyoka for his political gain. He has urged him to join Jubilee for the sake of Ukambani people.

“We should not allow ourselves to be used and dumped and we call upon our brother Kalonzo to ditch Cord and consider working with Jubilee ahead of the next General Election,” stated Sonko.

Other leaders who have express discontent following Joho’s appointment include Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Benson Mbai (Masinga), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), David Kareithi (Tigania West), Kanini Kega (Kieni) Joseph Kahangara (Lari).

Mr Munyaka argued that Kalonzo has nothing to benefit from Cord and Joho has been chosen to be Raila’s running mate.

“It seems Mr Odinga has already found another running mate and there is need for the Kamba community to reconsider their stay in the coalition,” he stated.
