The Mombasa County government has launched an initiative that will climax in the construction of a modern music studio for use by local artists.
Governor Hassan Joho on Saturday said he will strive to support local artists exploit their music talents and enable them earn a living through music.
Joho on Saturday afternoon together with Jomvu MP Badi Twalib and other Mombasa leaders held what he termed "a constructive engagement with the people of Jomvu Sub-County" at the Kwa Shee Social Hall.
The meeting's agenda mainly featured on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship especially in the performing arts sector.
"We handed over part of the hall to a contractor who will be constructing a modern recording studio for use by local artists and also disbursed cheques to several women and youth groups from the Mombasa County Youth Enterprise Fund to help them in expanding their businesses," Joho told the press after the meeting.
"We had a fruitful engagement in developing a more conducive environment for the people of Mombasa to engage in more meaningful activities for development.
Joho has been at the fore front championing youth agenda in the county with specific focus on talent nurturing and development.
He said the initiative launched in Jomvu will be replicated in other sub counties.
