Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said that he has no need for the government security that was recently withdrawn.
Speaking on Wednesday during the grand opposition rally at the Bomas of Kenya, Joho said that the government could as well remain with the guards.
He denied claims that the officers had been reinstated after a Cord outcry, adding that the government was doing the 'sideshows' to retaliate the 'truth' he had told President Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa.
"If telling the truth is being disrespectful, I have nothing to say to Jubilee. I have no apology to make," Joho said.
"I want to put a stop to this conversation about security. I have asked that they (Jubilee) should not give me security," he added.
Earlier, Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa had issued a statement on the security fiasco and said that only drug dealers would want more weapons.
But Joho has said that the people would themselves protect him.
"I want to tell Jubilee... We do not need your security. We are people who believe in God," he said.
