Hassan Joho says he will hold parallel rallies at the coast whenever President Uhuru Kenyatta visits the region in the coming two months.

The Mombasa governor was appointed opposition NASA’s campaign chairman in the coastal region and will oversee six counties.

To magnify his rivalry with Kenyatta, Joho said he will ensure coast residents do not back Uhuru’s reelection bid.

“This is our stronghold and whenever he holds rallies around, I will ensure I too hold parallel rallies,” said Joho during Raila Odinga’s tour in the region.

He added: “Jubilee comprises of thieves and the coast people cannot be part of that. We must ensure that NASA carries the day.”

Recently, Joho was denied access to Uhuru’s rally during the launch of SGR and had initially suffered a similar fate three months ago when the President was launching Likoni Ferry Services.

Early this year, their sour relationship precipitated withdrawal of Joho’s security details, a move that angered opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga.
