Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will on Friday (August 4) host NASA principals in Mombasa as campaigns hit closing stretch ahead of August 8.

Kenyans will go to the polls to vote for president, governors, senators, MPs, woman representatives and MCAs in one of Kenya’s most competitive elections since independence.NASA leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi will address several roadside rallies before converging at the famous Mama Ngina grounds for a major rally at 2pm.It’s not yet clear if Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto will attend.Ruto has been busy campaigning in Bomet County. He is defending his seat against Jubilee Party’s Joyce Laboso.Mombasa is an opposition stronghold, going by the 2013 voting data and the number of opposition leaders elected in the county in the last general election.In 2013 Raila garnered 189,985 votes against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 64,793 in Mombasa.The county currently has 580,223 registered voters and the opposition is seeking to ride on the popularity of Joho (ODM/NASA) to scoop the highest number of the votes against the Jubilee Party.A number of leaders elected on opposition party tickets in Mombasa in 2013 have crossed over to Jubilee Party.
