Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is expected to lead Orange Democratic Movement campaigns in Baringo County, a region that has traditionally supported independence party KANU on Thursday.
Joho, who has been at loggerheads with Jubilee administration, rejected the move by the government to reinstate his security details last week, few days after they were withdrawn.
According to former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo, the outspoken governor will tour the region to meet thousands of supporters who have since defected to ODM.
“When we say we have moved on, we mean business. Our able governor Joho will join thousands of Jubilee defectors in Baringo County on Thursday where they will formally join ODM,” he said on Wednesday during a press conference.
“We have put everything in place and I expect that the governor will get good reception. It’s time that we (defectors) have decided to support Raila Odinga and Governor Joho will witness that,” he added.
Joho has been pivotal in pushing for Raila’s presidency and is understood to be lobbying for Odinga’s candidature among key opposition leaders who are yet to give a single presidential candidate.
