Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will lead Coast governors in wooing residents to back opposition candidates ahead of the August general election. 

The team will address rallies in Taveta and Wundanyi on Thursday as the opposition seeks to dethrone President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.Joho will be accompanied by Amason Kingi (Kilifi) and John Mruttu (Taita Taveta) among other leaders. 

The leaders also plan to visit Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta and Lamu counties ahead of a major rally scheduled for March 26 at the Tononoka grounds. 

The governors’ tour comes after President Kenyatta and his deputy pitche visited the region where they launched several projects and asked residents to back their re-election bid.

UhuRuto received leaders who had decamped from the opposition side including Tana River Governor Hussein Dado, Senators Dan Mwazo and Ali Bule, MP Peter Shehe, Woman Representatives Halima Ware and Joyce Lay. 

Joho and Kingi have affirmed that they will camp in different parts of the country to ensure that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga becomes the next President of Kenya. The two leaders have been launching scathing attacks on the Jubilee administration over failure to keep their campaign promises.
