The governor threatened to take legal action against the government over discrimination meted out to the people in the region.

Speaking on Sunday during a rally at Bomani in Likoni Constituency, Joho criticised the government, saying the Constitution prevents the State from discriminating any citizen of Kenya directly or indirectly on any grounds.

He lashed out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for directing the Waitiki farm residents to pay land rates, only to write off a 2.4 billion debt owed by coffee farmers in Kirinyaga.

“It is unfair and discriminative for the Jubilee government to ease private debt for coffee farmers to the tune of 2.4 billion and reject pleas for the same help for Waitiki land settlers in Likoni, Mombasa,” said Joho.

“We demand similar consideration for our people and will be pursuing legal action for the same in the coming days,” he said.
