Pictures circulating online indicates that Mambasa Governor Hassan Joho was on Monday morning arrested and detained by the police at Nyali police stations.
Joho is believed to have planned to attend reopening of Mtongwe Ferry, a function that will be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In January, the firebrand ODM Deputy Leader also lost his guards after having a public spat with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The government has also linked him to drug trafficking, a move that opened fresh war of mouth with Jubilee government bigwigs.
President Kenyatta has been in the Coast region for the last four days and on Sunday, he said he is not desperate of Coastal region votes.
And Joho, a key opposition leader from the coast, has been spearheading anti-Jubilee campaigns together with his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi.
Reports indicate that the move was meant to prevent him from attending President Kenyatta’s function at Mtongwe.
He was seen being escorted by armed police men on Monday morning.
