Governor Hassan Joho on Thursday launched a campaign that will see PSV operators trained on road safety.
Besides, the campaign will also see the operators trained on how to fight drug and substance abuse.
The initiative dubbed 'Msamaria Mwema Road Safety Campaign' is implimented by Automobile Association in collaboration with St John Ambulance.
Already, 160 matatu drivers have been trained and issued with certificates.
They were trained on first aid, defensive driving as well as substance and drug abuse.
"I laud this noble effort and it will go a long way in making our roads safer for both pedestrians and passengers alike," he said as he issued out certificates to drivers who underwent training.
The event was also attended by Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba.
Data from the National Transport ans Safety Authority indicates that more people are dying on Kenyan roads.
